Dear colleagues and friends

As every year, it is again a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 21st Zurich Course on Interventional Neuroradiology to be held from the 28th of August to the 1st of September 2013 at the Department of Neuroradiology of the University Hospital of Zurich.

Since its inception in the year 1992, the primary educational goal of the Zurich Course on Interventional Neuroradiology has been to link the neuroanatomy, the neurobiology and the neurological-clinical manifestations underlying the wide and complex spectrum of neurovascular diseases with the various and continuously evolving neuroendovascular techniques used to treat them. Formal  lectures, interactive video-workshops, discussion sessions and hands-on practical workshops on special neurovascular models provided by a dedicated teaching faculty are the educational means used to achieve that goal.

The Course will cover again almost the entire spectrum of endovascular interventional neuroradiology including acute ischemic stroke, intra- and extracranial atherosclerotic disease, vascular lesions of the head and neck, intractable epistaxis, hypervascular skull base and intracranial tumors, dural arteriovenous fistulae, brain AVM's, spinal cord AVM's and intracranial aneurysms.

The teaching activities of the Course are designed in such a way that they cover all relevant aspects of each topic, from basic considerations to advanced applications and address both the beginner as well as the experienced practitioner in the field.

The teaching faculty and myself look forward to welcoming you next August in Zurich.

A. Valavanis
